Powerhouse Factories Live—COIN Records Session at our Creative Studio

By | Life at Powerhouse, Powerhouse Print Shop | No Comments

This week’s Powerhouse Live series features up-and-coming synth-pop group out of Nashville, COIN. They stopped by our shop right before the start of their tour with Passion Pit. Keep a lookout for them this summer—not only does their album arrive in a couple of weeks, but they’ll be back on the road with Betty Who and Neon Trees.

Watch a stripped-down version of their single, Run, as well as their take on Simon & Garfunkel’s Cecilia. Enjoy!

The Powerhouse Bonnaroo 2014 Wrap-Up

By | Life at Powerhouse, Powerhouse Print Shop | No Comments

Bonnaroo can be summed up in a few short words. The music and arts festival is a cacophony of sweat, sweet melodies, 808 drops, clean vibes and hula-hoops. Each year, the American Poster Institute dudes pack up our shops and join the pilgrimage to Manchester, Tennessee to hang out, see some music and sell some posters and merch.

For a more visually stimulating version of events, check out the wrap-up video below.

Special thanks to Modern Outsider Records and Black Pistol Fire for the song Run Rabbit Run. Check out Black Pistol Fire here and Modern Outsider Records here.

Powerhouse Factories Live — We Were Promised Jetpacks Session from The Grog Shop

By | Life at Powerhouse, Powerhouse Print Shop | No Comments

Back in March, after one of those rad ice storms, we packed up our gear and roadtripped it to The Grog Shop in Cleveland, Ohio to hang out with We Were Promised Jetpacks. Adam, of the Edinburgh-based band, did us the pleasure of recording stripped down versions of “Peace Sign” from their 2014 live release “E Rey: Live in Philadelphia” and “Human Error” from their 2011 release “In the Pit of the Stomach” for a remote Powerhouse Factories Live session before their show. Check out the videos below.

‘Roo Roundup—Observing Trends and Culture at Bonnaroo Music Festival

By | Cultural Trends, Design, Life at Powerhouse, Powerhouse News | No Comments

We left the shop at 4 a.m., easing the RV onto the interstate in the dark and headed south. With our poster tubes, prints and a piñata in tow, we were officially Bonnaroo bound.

For seven years we’ve made the flatstock festival rounds, slangin’ prints and merch at music fests like SXSW, Bonnaroo, Forecastle, Bunbury, Pitchfork and MidPoint Music Festival.  We travel to these events not only to sell our wares, but to stay in tune with and immersed in a music scene that is distilled in its purest form in these highly charged environments.
